Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Boronia West Primary School. I am the proud principal of this great school, having started here in 2023. Over my short time leading our school, many wonderful and positive changes have occurred.

  • To support the school's leadership, our newly appointed Learning Specialist, Neisha Gange, supports student and staff well-being.
  • Our new building was finished at the start of 2024 and houses four classrooms, an art room, a general-purpose space, and a maker space (where the kitchen can be used).
  • Our new outdoor facilities and spaces will be completed in Term 3 2024.  The outdoor space includes a basketball court, a sand pit, new paths connecting the main entry and the new classrooms, new grassed areas, and our new school fence, which will be relocated to the perimeter of our site.
  • This year we have continued to embed the School Wide Postiive Behaviour Support framework. Using this framework all staff focus on acknowledging positive behaviour and explicitly teaching our behavioural expectations.
  • We have a speech pathologist and a counsellor working on-site one day a week. We also have The Unconditional Love Foundation attend fortnightly, which provides an animal-assisted wellbeing program with Leah and Scout.
  • In 2023, we reintroduced camps and excursions for our students. Our Grade 4/5/6 attend camp at Blackwood Outdoor Education Centre and our Grade 2/3 attend camp at Garfield North Outdoor Education Centre.
  • In 2024, a rigorous process was followed to ensure that teachers employed at Boronia West PS were the "right fit." These teachers had expert knowledge of curriculum and well-being and were compassionate and committed to ensuring every student's success.

At Boronia West Primary School, our values of Being Respectful, Safe, and a Learner underpin the way we work and play together. Our values also underpin our approach to behaviour management, which is based on the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Framework. We spend time getting to know each student and their individual needs and learning styles, which enables us to provide effective classroom learning programs.

In addition to literacy, numeracy, history, and geography, students have access to specialists in art, physical education, and STEM. In 2023, we introduced Auslan as our language, and our students are extending their knowledge from fingerspelling to signing words and phrases.

Our teachers work as a team with each other and our families. Parents and carers are encouraged to communicate with teachers and the school leadership. Our parents are also welcome to participate in various activities, from classroom helpers to fundraising and working bees.

As a school, we work to develop each child’s academic and social and emotional learning. We are a very friendly and welcoming school, and we care about each other, for each other, and our environment. We are very proud of our school and the work of our students and staff. We invite you to learn more about our great school and see our school motto in action: "Growing Through Learning."

Our committed and expert teachers and staff have small class sizes so that all children may receive individual attention. We also have staff dedicated to literacy and numeracy support for students who require extension and additional assistance.

Our new building project has provided us with a new learning space for students, including 4 classrooms, an art room, an open learning space, and external learning nooks to enhance our learning programs further.

I encourage you to come and see what Boronia West Primary School has to offer.
